The search is progressing slowly due to heavy fog and adverse weather conditions. Drone footage of the woman screaming for help has already been released. It is clear from the footage taken by the team with her on Saturday with the help of a drone that she was injured in the fall, but her life was not in danger. The footage shows the woman sitting motionless on the gray soil. The woman is at a great depth from the trekking path to Mount Rinjani. Rescuers have reached a depth of 984 feet and have not been able to find the woman. However, the rescuers have been able to hear the woman’s screams.
However, rescue workers explained that the young woman could not be found in the area where she was first found during a search conducted in a thick smoke-covered atmosphere on Sunday. The intense heat from the volcano also affected drone operations on Sunday. The team was able to find the young woman again in the search that began on Monday morning. However, the 26-year-old woman has fallen further. Rescue workers have only been able to reach a depth of 250 meters. Rescue workers explain that they can only reach the young woman if they can reach a depth of about 350 meters.
Meanwhile, Mount Rinjani Park authorities are facing strong criticism for allowing tourists into the area even after the accident. The criticism is being raised for allowing tourists to visit Mount Rinjani Park even after a woman who came to visit the park was trapped inside Indonesia’s second-largest volcano.
