An alleged video purportedly showing DGP-rank IPS officer Dr Ramachandra Rao, father of gold smuggling accused Ranya Rao, in compromising situations inside his official chamber has sparked a major controversy in Karnataka.
The video, which has gone viral, allegedly shows the senior police officer embracing and kissing different women while in uniform during office hours. The footage is said to have been secretly recorded inside the DGP’s office and has raised serious questions about professional conduct, discipline, and the use of official premises.
According to available information, the women seen in the video reportedly visited the office on different occasions and appeared in different outfits. The visuals allegedly show Rao interacting closely with them while official work was ongoing. While there are no claims of coercion or force, the nature of the acts shown inside a government office during duty hours has drawn sharp criticism, with many calling it a grave breach of institutional decorum and ethical standards.
The controversy has reached Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has sought a detailed briefing from the concerned department. Sources say the Chief Minister was visibly angry after viewing the footage and has demanded an explanation as to how such an incident could have occurred within the police establishment.

Officer denies allegations, calls video morphed
Dr Ramachandra Rao has strongly denied the allegations, dismissing the video as fabricated. Speaking to India Today, the senior officer claimed he was being deliberately targeted.
